A more honest team you will not meet. I brought my Ford Ka here and there were issues amounting to hundreds of euro if they were to be fixed. However, instead of insisting that the jobs were essential and taking my money, they gave me a workaround for one of them and told me that another job wasn't essential. I have been back again recently and they looked after me again. I won't deal with any other garage in future!

We have been doing business with Baldoyle Auto Centre for at least 15 years. They do all the general servicing on our 2 cars and also the pre NCT services. What can I say I called on the 24 June to book my car in as it won't take a charge of air con gas I got a date for the 29 June . I left the car in left my number and asked for an up date as I needed it back after work to get home any way I didn't get that call and called my self , so I was told that a seal was gone and replaced but it's still leaking now it's the hose going to the radiator I asked had it been replaced to which I was told no sure I'll price one tomorrow or the next day ? I called down to get the keys got billed 85 euro and told the hose would be expensive! Not what you want to hear ! Any way it's the 1St. Of July and I haven't hear a word back . Not the way to do business lads

Very happy with the work done. I had damage to the side door. It was badly scratched and dented. In the back of my mind I was expecting it not to ever look 100% again because it was so bad. I was wrong, I couldn't tell the difference when the job was done. It was perfect. I was a bit hesitant because of the price but they showed me the oven room they used after the spray painting was done and they had all the best of equipment. I did get another price a couple of hundred cheaper but it was a guy with a shop down a laneway and he definitely did not have an oven and he said it would take over a week. I got my car back in two days. Well worth it, would highly recommend. Quality! Thanks a mill.

Richard and his team provided a 5 star service. I couldn’t be happier with the work that they did on my car. After a lot of years of neglect I needed to have alot of work done on the car but Richards team had it back to new within a day at a very fair price with additional cleaning provided at no charge. I use Baldoyle Auto Centre for my regular services and have always been very happy with them. This time around they cleaned up an awful mess created by another garage. I had a clutch fail and the car was towed to the nearest garage (a main dealer), as is the way. The clutch was replaced but soon after receiving the car back, I noticed a leak on the road where the car was parked overnight. Baldoyle Auto Centre went way above and beyond to diagnose the root cause and ultimately had to fit another new clutch, redoing all of the work done by the significantly less competent main dealer. They also liaised with the original garage, supplied photos as evidence of the issue, ensuring that all costs were borne by the garage that caused the problem. I have had many dealings with both John and Richard at Baldoyle Auto Centre, and always find them incredibly helpful, honest, and true to their word. But above all they are knowledgeable and professional, and exceptional good at what they do. I would very much recommend Baldoyle Auto Centre, thanks guys.

This garage is owned by Richard Dixon and was recommended by a colleague shortly after I moved to the area in 2012. I’m fussy about my cars and will go back if something is not right. I have never had to return to Baldoyle Autos. The standard of work is impeccable, everything is clearly explained and the service is highly professional. The workshop is clean and organised, always a positive sign. Richard and his colleague John are gentlemen and a pleasure to deal with. I have confidently recommended this garage to friends and colleagues who have been equally impressed. These guys know their stuff and, most important, I trust them with my car 100%. Had some body repair work completed today (Oct 21). Top notch work and my car returned valeted. Can’t recommend highly enough.

I had been a loyal customer for many years. I had even recommended them in the past to friends. I had been recently told by someone whom I trust, that some of their suggested repairs might not actually be needed. They got a second opinion, which backed up their suspicions. I initially believed it to be an isolated incident, however, I now have personal experience of this. They quoted me for a job that I thought was a little more expensive than it should have been. I rang around several other highly rated specialists and they all came back with the same quote that was 45% cheaper than Baldoyle Autos (BA). In addition this this, BA said there was a leak in the engine. While my car was being repaired by a different garage, I asked the master mechanic about the engine leak. He simply laughed and said there was nothing there. Finally, BA also claimed I needed new tyres. I brought the car around to Tyreland and told them what my (former) mechanic said. Once again, no work required. The car passed the NCT without any tyre failure or advisory. In total, if I went with BA, I would have ended up paying €950 more, which excluded the “engine leak”. I feel really let down by BA. I had trusted them for years, and when I think back to a few of my more expensive repairs, I now wonder if they were needed at all. I had debated leaving a review. Initially, I was just going to change mechanic and leave it at that. However, following the two separate visits on the potential engine leak and 4 new tyres, I thought that was too much, and they had to be called out. I’m glad I got a second opinion on the additional suggested repairs. I appreciate that you have to make a living, which I don’t have a problem with, but I do have a problem with the high prices and phantom repairs. Will be taking my business elsewhere in future.

2nd time to use Baldoyle Auto Centre. 1st time was just a clogged windscreen washer pump fixed at a very reasonable price ( another garage said the pump had to be replaced),John behind the counter was very helpful and friendly. Then booked my car in to get rear bumper repaired and painted and again delighted with price and the result. I will definitely be recommending them to my friends and family

Air Conditioning Recharge

If your car air-con stops working it’s easy to say that you need an air-con re-gas. There is a more environmentally friendly air conditioning refrigerant for your car which takes 11 days to clear the air instead of 13 years.

Your air-con can keep you cool in the summer hot months, but remember that it can also keep you warm on those wintery days and help de-mist your windscreen at a faster rate. Keeping your air-con system in good condition gives you year round comfort.

Questions and Answers

How do I know which air con gas I need for my vehicle?

If your vehicle was manufacturered since 1st January 2017 then it most definetly will need the new R134A air-con gas. Vehicles manufactured before 2014 shall require the older air-con gas named R134A. However, if your vehicle was made between the years of 2014 and 2016 then your vehicle could require either of the two gases which would need inspection.

How often shall I re-gas my air-con?

Manufacturers recommend that your vehicle’s air conditioning should be recharged with gas and lubricant every 2 years to keep it running effectively and efficiently. This service isn’t usually part of your annual vehicle service so if your vehicle is over 2 years old then a recharge is probably due.
